Who is Land’s Edge?
Established 17 years ago the Land’s Edge Surf School is one of the most reputable surf schools on the Eastern Seaboard of Australia and the longest running in the Illawarra. It provides individuals, school and other groups as well as families the opportunity to experience the thrill of riding waves.
Participants take with them the memory of a positive experience as well as the skills and knowledge to continue surfing and spending time at the beach in a safe manner. All Land’s Edge Surf School lessons are conducted by professional and highly experienced surfing instructors who are local residents with expert knowledge about local surfing conditions and the surrounding environment of Seven Mile Beach and the South Coast of NSW.

Land’s Edge Surf School operates from Seven Mile Beach National Park throughout the Summer period.
Weekend packages, Group Surf Lessons or 4 Day Surf Packages.
Land’s Edge lessons and packages include all equipment and have a staff to participant ratio of no more than 1:8
Land’s Edge holds a NSW National Parks & Wildlife Service licence – a Parks Eco Pass – to conduct instructional and educational courses and guided tours in NSW national parks and reserves including Seven Mile Beach National Park.
Land’s Edge Surf School has an impeccable safety track record. Prior to lessons Land’s Edge liaises with groups/individuals regarding relevant paperwork including risk management, public liability, child protection, student medical forms and educational resources.
Land’s Edge Surf School is located in the spectacular Illawarra region of NSW, only 1.5 to 2 hours south of Sydney. Seven Mile Beach and the adjacent National Park is the most ideal beach to learn to surf in Australia. Its waves are renowned for being consistently the perfect size and form on which to learn to surf. Seven Mile Beach is also known for its safe water conditions. Land’s Edge operates from within the National Park allowing for a hassle free surfing experience.
How to Find us
Crooked River Road is accessed off the Princes Highway via the Gerringong turnoff.
If travelling south along Crooked River Road, turn left at the sign ‘Seven Mile Beach National Park’ onto the dirt track (opposite the Cleary Bros green gates; 1.7kms south of Crooked River Bridge).
If travelling north along Crooked River Road, turn right at the sign ‘Seven Mile Beach National Park’ onto the dirk track (opposite the Cleary Bros green gates; 2.2km north of Beach Road & Crooked River Road intersection).
Parking for cars is available at the end of the dirt track at the picnic area.
Land’s Edge provides the following equipment for every lesson:
- Soft surfboards and wetsuits
- Instructor / student ratio of 1:8
- Qualified surf instructors
- First aid kit
- Swimwear (wearing)
- Water bottle
- Sunscreen (wearing)
